Wednesday surprises: coffee, groceries & the visitors center

November 16, 2011 in Surprises

The Surprise Squad started out our Wednesday morning in the same way many Coralville residents do — with a stop at the local Caribou Coffee! While we were there, we paid for several customers’ orders as they drove up to the drive-thru window for coffee. We hope we helped these customers get a good start to their day!

Our next stop of the day was a visit to New Pioneer Food Co-op┬áto pay for a few customers’ groceries. The store was busy, and we were able to help four customers by paying for their groceries for the day. One customer, Megan, was speechless when we told her we would be covering her groceries! While we were there, we met lots of customers who were excited about what we were doing in the community — several shoppers even declined our offer to pay for their groceries, asking us to pay for a customer who needed the help more. How generous!

We ended our day with a stop at the Coralville Visitors Center, the office of the Iowa City/Coralville Area Convention & Visitors Bureau. While we were there, we met Donna, the receptionist, and Allie, the director of membership and marketing. Both ladies were excited to receive a basket of treats from the Surprise Squad, and we were happy to surprise representatives of the organization that welcomes so many visitors and new residents to our community.
